OUR Past OUR Future NOW OUR PRESENT

“My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me.”~Henry Ford

This honestly couldn’t be truer in my boyfriend and his dog (Niko). Trust me, Tom is the kindest person I know, but it wasn’t his relationship with his human friends that made me love him. It was Niko and Tom’s relationship. I’ve never seen a relationship so close. From the way they behave, what they love to do and how much they love to eat, they are the same. At the end when you mess with Niko you mess with Tom.

Just so you have some background on Niko. He was born in the middle of no where Vermont. My boyfriend and his friend Tyler found an ad for german shepherd/lab puppies and decided to travel into the backwoods of Vermont to get themselves two very wonderful puppies (Niko and Lexa). The person who they got their pups from was your typical red neck but the play area and home he built for his dogs was larger than his own home. He cared and loved his dogs. Niko was the largest pup in the litter, and everytime Tom would try to look at another pup Niko just wouldn’t allow it. So as you can tell Niko came home with Tom. (9 week old Niko Denison)

Anyway I find it the cutest story in the entire world because Tom went searching everywhere for Niko including asking Campus Police who he had a history with if they saw him (that’s another story). Eventually Tom found Niko walking on the side-walk (like a human). You’ll realize the more I write about this boy, he’s more human than most humans. This boy when other dogs run away, Niko will stay on the property and not leave unless told. He will actually find missing dogs.

Niko loves swimming and hiking. He loves the colder weather but who wouldn’t when you have thick black fur. He can tell a strangers car from someone elses, and he loves saying hi to everyone. Tom trained him to listen so if you were to tell him something he would do it. I know some people believe pets aren’t as important as humans but Niko is just as important as any human to us.

I met this little boy when he was 5 years old in 2012. If you couldn’t tell already, this boy has me wrapped around his little paw. I literally consider this boy my child. He stays at my side on walks, or comes and finds me on hikes when his dad leaves me in the middle of the woods. He’s mine and Tom’s entire world. Me and Tom are polar opposites, but one thing we always agree on is Niko.

So through reading posts, you’ll realize it’s allot of Niko and some of mine and Tom’s life.

Disclaimer** Niko does not eat apple fritters and drink orange juice.  🙂
